Congratulations Mike and Ann Moore on Outstanding RPCV Award!

Mike and Ann Moore (Togo, 1962-64) were honored with the Outstanding Returning Peace Corps Volunteer award on Aug. 28, 2015. The award was given as part of the Governor’s Service Awards, presented by Serve Colorado. The Moores were nominated by Laurie Hirschfeld Zeller of WorldDenver for their life-long commitment in service of others in “a wide variety of causes including the arts, the environment, global issues, health and education.”

This is the second year that RPCVs were honored during the Governor’s Service Awards. Along with the Outstanding Returning Peace Corps Volunteer award, the following individuals and organizations were also honored for their service to others:

  • Outstanding AmeriCorps State/National Member: Janet Gilmore
  • Outstanding AmeriCorps VISTA Member: Kristen O'Brien
  • Outstanding Community Leader: Mayor Tara Schoedinger
  • Outstanding Nonprofit Organization: Homeless Gear and Hope House of Colorado
  • Outstanding Returning Peace Corps Volunteer: Mike and Ann Moore
  • Outstanding Senior Corps Volunteer: Sam and Galina Dukarevich
  • Outstanding Veteran Volunteer: Paula Sarlls
  • Outstanding Volunteer: Laura Levy
  • Outstanding AmeriCorps NCCC Member: Flannery Pearson

Speaking at the start of the awards ceremony, Lt. Governor Joe Garcia said, “These winners represent what makes Colorado truly great...Each and every award winner demonstrates a deep dedication to service and giving back to their local communities across the state.
